So we have been using this laser, the 40w K4 blue Chinese laser, since April 2016 til now, like 11 months straight, no problems whatsoever. We got a large order for 100 81mm (3.25in) round wooden laser engraved dics which are 3mm thick. We had the power output around 25-30% and 12ma. At disc 48 it was perfect as usual, then 49 came out extra weak and 50 barely showed at all. After reading up online we cleaned all mirrors and the lens with 91% isopropyl alcohol and q tips and then realigned them. We got it to lase one more disc then the next one was weak and splotchy and now, it seams the laser is not even exiting the tube!! Like when we put a piece of paper against the tube output it does not leave a mark at all. The laser tube itself seems to be firing fine, its bright and the colors is blue to purple. But it's just not exiting the tube! We check the power supply and everything looks just fine. The first mirror was quite loose, maybe since we were doing such a small lasing space 81mm square, but a circle within the square. so maybe something came loose? But still why is not exiting the laser anymore? Is our tube fried? Or is there salvation for it?

Ive tried everything i am comfortable doing since im female, 27 and with no electrical or machine experience lol im a jewelry artist and i make crystal grids with the laser. I have a huge air bubble in the top of the tube where the metal ring thing is at the end & where the laser beam should come out and it looks like its arching to the metal and not passing through. Also the mA is reading around 20 in the first few seconds then after turning it down to about 5-10mA it makes that loud buzzing sound ! Is that the power supply arching ??Originally Posted by maracv

If you have bubble in laser tube do not operate machine remove the bubble First it may damage tube... bubble can couse damage to laser tube but can also couse dissaligment of inside mirrors in tube... remove bubbles First with slight tilting machine or rotating tube... i am not expert in this but think your tube shows somehow different light color than it should be....
Maybe you will need to change your tube...

If you have no laser beam exiting the tube then your tube is bad, or your controller or power supply is bad.
Go to the K40 google group and ask the same question there.Since there are lots of users there with the same machine, they will likely offer more help than you'll find here.
Are you positive nothing is exiting the tube? You put a piece of paper or tape on the first mirror to test it? If you didn't, do so. If it's firing, its a mirror and or lens damage or alignment issue. Check everything well.
When mirrors/lens get dirty the laser can heat them up and cause damage to them also.
