Hello,
I just converted my laser to a RDC6442G controller and have everything working. The problem I'm having is although I set the max speed of the X and Y to 800mm/s in RDWorks v8 (and confirmed it on the machine by reading back the settings), when I engrave the controller is setting my speed to 200mm/s.
I'm struggling to figure out where this limitation is coming from.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Hello James,
My step length is 4.8um on both the X and the Y. If I do that math right, I should be able to go 2400mm at 500kHz.
I'm actually asking for a speed of 450mm/s in the job, but it is getting knocked down to 200mm/s
Thanks,
Dave
Dave,
Do you have any other drivers or are the motors directly wired to the controller? I don't know your setup, so I'm working from the strict math.
Also looking at the RDWorks manual, it could also be a setting in your configuration that limits you.
Not sure at this point.
I can't really help further without knowing all the components involved.

Hello James,
The controller is connected to seperate drivers, one each for the X, Y and Z. They haven't changed, I'm only changing the controller from a 6515/lasercut setup to a 6442/rdworks set-up.
I believe it's either something I'm missing in the configuration in RDWorks, or there is a hard limitation on the controller board that I need to figure out how to modify.
On the RDWorks side, I am setting the max speed in the vendor tools configuration section. I don't know if there is any place else to set this.

Hello Dave,
Sorry, I really do not know at this point. Maybe someone familiar with the laser will chine in, and be able to help.
