Photo Engraving need help please

I have a 50w Chinese laser, i have been trying to do portraits onto acrylic, we have been using the machine for last 6 mths and have had no problems with normal pictures like coloring in etc, i have now been trying to learn photos i have looked at just about all the videos online and followed step by step, have used corel draw, photoshop, photograve and 1 touch laser, i make sure dpi is at least 300, turn it into 1 bit bitmap, tried inverting but still get lines thru it or distorted, i use RD Works at the laser. i will attach the photo i have been trying to do, what could i be missing please help

turn it into 1 bit bitmap,
I am not sure I understand what you are asking, but maybe your problem is the 1-bit part. The result certainly loks a bit binary. Try turing the image into an 8-bit grey-scale.

Looks like you need to adjust the scan gap and perhaps lower the power.
