Question Where can I find an affordable big laser cutter? And what power is recommended for...

Hello there guys, how are you? I am looking for advice please.

I have been laser cutting (not engraving) for about 4 years now. I have 3 machines.

    1st: 40w Shenhui K40
This is a toy, but is what I started with, and got me into lasers, and I thank it for changing my life... Laser power was very weak, cutting speed was bad, and accuracy was terrible when cutting fast. but I still love it, even though I don't use it.

    2nd: 50w Shenhui D350 500mm x 300mm
This is my hero. Changed my life! Laser power is perfect for the stuff I cut. I cut very thin materials @ 16% power, 75 MMS. Don't need better.

3rd: 50w Unkown Brand 700 x 500 mm. Similar to the one above, hardware and everything. I bought this one, simply because of the work space, being much bigger than the D350,thats the only reason why I bought it.

Now, I am searching for my last laser cutter. This time, I need more power, and more space. I want to be able to cut 3/4 inch wood with it. And I don't want to do it at 10 mms ...

Quite honestly I don't know if I can afford one... But, does any body here have an Idea where I could buy an affordable laser cutter, that would have a workspace big enough to put an entire MDF sheet from home depot in it? Or at least Half?

What kind of price would I be looking for? I don't care where it's coming from, but I am staying away from our domestic WAY overpriced american products. Yes, the quality, looks, and perks are there but... In my opinion, if I have Enough power, Enough size, and Enough accuracy, I don't need anything too pretty.

    Thank you guys !

We purchased a Redsail X900 100W RECI tube (900x600mm) and it performs really well. They make bigger units including flat beds with power up to 180W. Laser Cutting Machine - Low cost Laser Cutter Manufacturer from Redsail China

Thank you so much for the quick response my friend. I visited their website...
I will definitely look into some sort of flat bed.

What laser power would you recommend to be able to cut 3/4 inch MDF at about 20mms ?

I want a safe power range so that I don't overwork the laser tube. So I want a little extra power, but not overkill. because i know those high wattage laser tubes are very expensive....

The 180W RECI tube should be able to cut at that speed, with a 100W RECI we can cut 3/8 inch at 20mm/s. I haven't tried cutting any 3/4 inch on our unit to check the speeds. I will give that t try in the next few days and get back to you.

Thank you so much for the help friend.

I have a general question. What is the difference between a reci and a co2 tube?

    >>What is the difference between a reci and a co2 tube<<

RECI has had the reputation of being the best maker or CO2 laser tubes but they are premium priced. With that said, a few other tube manufacturers appear to be upping their game. Be aware that tube manufacturers have different series of tubes so not all tubes are equal in quality and warranty.

Ohhh thank you for clarifying that.

I have been using my laser cutter (shenhui d350) about 16 hours per week, for the past 3 years (16 + hours p week)...
It still has the original tube, and is working to date .

I use it at 16%. I do not cut wood, only mylar.

How much time left do you think I might have on this tube?
How do I tell when the tube is almost dead?
I have been using Tap water, with ICE in the bucket + waterpump. is this ok?

The fact I never use the laser at more than 16%, does this make it last longer than if I used it at 80% for example?

Thanks so much again !!! I am just asking, because I want to make sure I have a spare tube before this one dies, and people online have said, it's bad to store a co2 tube, and not use it, i don't know if thats true or not.
