    Default New to Laser cutters

Hello. I am looking to get my first laser cutter a 100 watt, and either a 900 or 1000 x 600 machine,
I am slowly learning what I need, and what I would like to have. My question is: What is color separation and how important is it?
I will be doing engraving, cutting and the like.

Color separation typically refers to the number of colors that the software can recognize as different layers. This in turn allows the assignment of different power levels to each color. In addition, it allows for varying power levels based on grey scale which gives varying depth to an engraving. The better the controller typically will give better beam control. Keep in mind that the higher power tubes are not as well suited for engraving as they are for cutting, this is not to say the they cannot be used for engraving just know that they will be at a higher power when engraving.

We have a 100W 900x600 unit and are very happy with it.
