We have a Trotec Speedy 400, and today I noticed today the laser wasn't cutting anything. Even the thinnest acrylic sheets were catching fire and not cutting all the through on high (or low) power settings. Basically, the cut lines look like scorch marks.
I took out the lens to clean it and this is what it looked like:
There was some white-ish fog on the outside of the lens and this permanent blotch at the center.
Any ideas what happened here and why is it affecting the cutting?
If a new lens is needed, how much should we expect to pay?
i would say, there was too much debris reaching the lens during past cuts.
This could be caused by too less air pressure supplied to the nozzle system or to long clean cycles during operations.
Especially when cutting/engraving wood i would always check the lens afterwards.
I don t know how this is handled on a trotec speedy ( we only have a speedmarker from trotec) but on other machines this should be good practice to do so.
