    Default Corian

I'm looking to make some stamps using my laser. These stamps will be used in a bench press to emboss leather. I have run off a few practice pieces, using of all things pieces of laminate flooring which is basically mdf. These have worked well but I don't think they will last too long after multiple pressings.

I have been told Corian engraves well. Does anyone have any experience of using it in a laser?

It engraves wonderfully, although it is a bit dusty and messy. It would seem that the laser vaporizes the binding resin that holds the solids together, but does not obliterate some of the fine solids which results in a chalk like substance everywhere. One word of caution it is the single stinkiest thing i have ever engraved. I don't even know how to describe it but even with it vented outside it is quite horrible. My garage stunk for a day after I did it and my wife could smell it out in the back yard and chewed me out. It does turn out perfect though! Good luck.
