I don't understand why you can not get it to work on windows 8. I am running 8.1 and am having no problems with it whatsoever. What is it doing or not doing that it should be doing? If you have a valid copy of the program, maybe there are answers on the Corel site. As I have stated, I am using it on 8.1.

Are you guys saying that X5 will run on 8.1 but not 8.0? Because according to this page only X6 and X7 are compatible.

Well i can confirm 100% that I got X5 to load on win 8.1

I will be trying to load x5 on another computer a little later than only has win 8....

i will let you know what happens and /of if i had to upgrade to 8.1 for it to load

but YES...x5 loads into WINDOWS 8.1

What basically happened was it started all normal as a disc load then all of a sudden got to around 65%-71% and just seem to sit there for hours...Well i deceided..what the hell ..I got nothing to lose..and with me good mate HERBY (walt) pushing me along...I deceided to leave it loadin overnight and off i went to bed..

Now whether it took 5 minutes or 8 hours to load im not sure..

but one thing for certain is that

COREL DRAW X5 does load and work on WINDOWS 8.1

Ok guys im back with good news

Corel Draw loads on both WIN8 and WIN8.1

On WIN8 it actually appears to stall at 66%-71%...once it does that simply leave it loading for about 1 hour and then simply remove the disc.
Then simply search COREL and you will see it is there.
A window pops up eveytime you open Corel saying it has compatibilty issue...Just run with those issues...
It in fact has NO COMPATIBILITY issues at all
It simply is a ploy by Corel to get you to buy a update to Corel Draw 7

On WIN8.1 It does fully load but still stalls at 66%-70%...but just leave the disc in overnight and the next morning it has fully loaded
Same message comes up everytime you open Corel but ignore it

    Summerise
COREL DRAW X5 operates fully functional on both WIN8 and WIN8.1

The academic version will only allow you to load onto ONE computer then it is dead.
If you want to load onto another computer you need to totally delete Corel X7 from the existing computer (bit hard to do if the computer is dead) but only then will it allow you to reload it on another computer
Corel has a encoding on the disc that will require registration to operate the software. once it dies on a old computer then you need to get a re-activation code from Corel Help Desk (good luck with that) and then it will work on another computer..

Forget that linked page. It is a ploy by corel to get you to buy a upgraded version.

YES..Corel Draw X5 runs on both WIN8 and WIN8.1 but follow my instructions i have already posted
