Unbranded DRO scales like iGage

I have read on some eBay ad's on these unbranded iGage DRO scales (Shahe made?) that you can cut the scale to custom lengths.
Is this true? If so what is the best way to cut them? (fine tooth hacksaw, slitting saw on mill, etc.) Any length or some magic multiple like 1/8" 1/4" 1/2"?

The short answer is 100 percent YES, a high speed cutoff wheel does the job quicker than spreading butter.

Many users on hobby-machinist.com have done so successfully.

TNX Jeff for the info. Looks like I can use a Dremel cutoff wheel or take 2 pieces of wood and clamp (lightly) the scale in between and use a hacksaw to cut the scale.
The wood being clamped would help keep the plastic cover from ripping up during cutting with hacksaw.

Yes I have been to Yuriy's site already and plan on making this for my lathe so only need X and Z.
