    Question old hard drive motor

    hi all
    can anyone help I have motor out of very old hard drive .
    the name on the motor is JTC made in japan their is a number on it
    088311 it has six wires brown yellow red white blue green

    6 wires would indicate a unipolar motor. You can identify the wiring with an ohm-meter.

    Measure ohms between random wires until you find 3 wires with connectivity between them. Suppose it is red, white, and blue. If red-white is 1 ohm and white-blue is 1 ohm, but red-blue is 2 ohms, then white is the center tap of those 3 wires. Repeat the process on the other 3 wires.

    Unipolar stepper motor drivers should be reasonably common.

old hard drive motor
