hi all
can anyone help I have motor out of very old hard drive .
the name on the motor is JTC made in japan their is a number on it
088311 it has six wires brown yellow red white blue green
6 wires would indicate a unipolar motor. You can identify the wiring with an ohm-meter.
Measure ohms between random wires until you find 3 wires with connectivity between them. Suppose it is red, white, and blue. If red-white is 1 ohm and white-blue is 1 ohm, but red-blue is 2 ohms, then white is the center tap of those 3 wires. Repeat the process on the other 3 wires.
Unipolar stepper motor drivers should be reasonably common.
