    Default more relay trouble

I am trying to hook up a relay activated by an output pin of my parallel port. When I disconnect the relay and activate the pin i get a reading of 5v from the pin to ground. When I hook up the relay and activate the pin I get a reading of 2.3v, which is not enough to activate the relay (it needs 3v). What's going on and how can I fix it?
    Thanks,
    Pete

For a circuit Do a search of the forums for 2n7000 , you need a buffer transistor or equivalent.

    Thanks Al.
I guess I should have searched first, asked questions later.
