voltage spike?
I just installed a stack light to monitor when my air compressor was running as it is in a remote location. It is a 3P 208V 15HP compressor. The remote building has it's own breaker panel being fed from a breaker panel in the main shop. After 1 day the circuit board in the stack light was fried. The light is supplied a neutral directly from the breaker panel in the remote building and power from the load side of the contactor on the compressor. My question is, when the contactor opens and the compressor pump/motor are coasting down can the motor be generating some sort of voltage spike to fry the board in the light?

After closer examination there were 2 sets of auxiliary contacts 1NC & 1 NO.
That should do the trick. Now just waiting for a new light!
