I'm going to make a kind of "heavy duty" spindle that is belt geared, but I would like to have an electrical RPM-control (about 1000-4000 or better).
As I see it an async motor with a frequency converter cannot vary that much in RPM, or can it?
To me it looks like a DC motor with a modulated controller like this one is a better choice.

Enlighten me, please.
