| I am adding a 4th axis to an existing 3-axis machine. I'm using a Gecko 320X servo driver to run a Reliance Electric servo. The servo does not have an encoder. Since the 320 requires an encoder to work, I'm stuck with either adding an encoder or replacing the servo with another servo that has an encoder (and runs at 90v, which has proven tough to find). Is there a cheap, quick source of rotary encoders? eBay has several, but I'm leery of buying a pig in a poke. Thank you! |

| We recommend the CUI encoders from www.digikey.com. Just go to the website and search for AMT102-V; it should go right to the product page. It is a selectable resolution encoder and is very inexpensive and very good. I was visiting a manufacturer we do business with last week and was about to recommend that encoder to them when they showed me their machines with that encoder already on it. We use it here and have no complaints. Marcus |
