Cool G540 PC comunication issues...

Hello all,

I have just finnished building an X2 style mini mill and and using the gecko G540 with X-Y-Z and spindal wired to it.

The problems start when I plug in the paralel cable. The machine spindal starts to spin at low RPM as soon as the cable makes contact. Additionally the motors are not functioning but are locked in place while connected which is not nesasarily a bad thing but its not good either.

A little background information:
1. LTP1 is set to EPP
2. Windows 7 32bit running Mach3 in XP-sp3 mode
3. The G540 is a Version 3 (I think)
4. I have tripple checked the wiring against known good schematics (But you never know)
5. ???

Any help is appreciated!!

The motors should be locked up when power is applied and the G540 is enabled.

The spindle is a separate issue.

Please post a picture of your wiring.

Jeff...

1) Ports and Pins: STEP must be set "Active High"
2) Motor Tuning: STEP PULSE WIDTH must be set to "2 uS"
3) Make sure you have a "straight-through" DB-25 cable. Every pin on the connector is used; every pin in the cable must have a wire going to it. Many DB-25 cables (printer cables) don't have every pin wired.
