Mitotoya usually can be adapted as the ones I have used have had +5v differential output.
You may have to reverse engineer the channels, IIRC the + and common is red & black so just power it up and check with a meter or scope.

Has anyone tried adapting a Mitutoyo DRO for use with CNC milling machine.
I would like to use the linear scales I already have mounted on my machine.
Talk about zero backlash.
Found a pdf file on Mitutoyo site on scales, will study it and check against my hardware. I was hoping I would be able to plug directly into the recorder outputs.

Thanks Al, will do, would you happen to know how many pulses per inch they are?
The ones I used were 2µm and 5µm

As I recall, I think I bought the less expensive ones which would be the 5s, so about .0002in, way better resolution than I need. Thanks Al
Hi Al. I got some responses in the electronics section, and a note back from Gecko that the motors will oscillate the amount of the backlash in the machine. Have you run into this problem?
