I have the 540 installed in the case, the power supply is making 47.1 volts DC, I have an emergency stop button wired in according to the instructions, have it connected to MACH 3, charge pump is configured and so is Estop no motors hooked up yet, but I can't get it to come out of fault mode. If I slide the charge pump switch on the back of the 540 to OFF I then get a green light until I press the E stop button, when I release the estop it goes back to green. As long as the charge pump switch is turned on, it's in fault mode. I have spent the last hour reading all post about getting out of fault mode and i tried everything that was suggested, but I'm stumped. Any clues of where to start looking? I haven't got any idea what I did wrong or didn't do. Jack |

Jack, Have you seen this? https://www.geckodrive.com/upload/G540InitialSetup.pdf I had the same "fault" problem last week. I ended up having two problems. The first was the parallel port was not set to EPP mode in the BIOS settings on the computer. Next, I had a null modem parallel cable.

Thanks for the reply, I am not quite sure what I changed in the config settings but it is now working with the charge pump switch on the Gecko 540 set to ON, I can get a green light on the back. But, with all three motors plugged into the 540 (Still green) when I try to jog a axis the motor sounds like it is trying to turn but does not turn, sort of a vibrating sound and feel but definitely not turning. I must still have something not quite right, but I don't have a clue. Anyone have any ideas of what to check? Thanks Jack

I had this problem as well for the longest time. Somehow I traced it back to Mach3 (it happened a while ago, don't remember how I did that) and found that even though I have the option for a charge pump, it was not working. I did not check it with an oscilloscope but I know something on the pc side was wrong. I figured out that my program was very out of date. Try just downloading the newest version of Mach3 as a trial and running it with the charge pump and all appropriate settings.

First of all this is a new installation of everything, after I figured out that I had installed the wrong resistor on the motor wires and put in the correct one things started turning as they should. Then I tuned the motors and then I installed home switches and set all of that. Now everything appears to be operating correctly and I am happy with everything. I have used some of the wizards to actually cut some metal and it appears that everything works. Now I just have to decide what cad-cam software to get and use. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and help along the way. John
