| After a last minute check before ordering a G-540 drive , I found on the spec sheets that the inductance of my stepper motor is 8 mh. and the maximum on the g-540 spec is 3mh. I dont know the mechanical power require for my home made cnc router.(ACME screw 10 tpi.) The main reason for upgrading to gecko is limited top speed with xylotex drive. Any suggestion anyone? |

| You have two things working against you. High inductance, which will limit higher rpm's, and 10 tpi screws, which require very high rpm's. The G540, and a 48V power suppply should double your speed, but you won't get the most out of those motors. Hard to recommend something here. The cheapest fix for more speed would be switching to 2 start or 5 start screws, but the Xylotex will still be holding you back a bit. If money were no object, I'd say get new screws, a G540 and new motors. With the Gecko sale right now, you can get 3 G201's for the price of a G540, and then you can use a 72 Volt power supply, which will let you get good performance from those motors.
