Need Help!- Which gecko to get

Hi all.

I am refitting a techno 4x4 router that I have purchased used. I am thinking of getting the control box built by Keling with the 540 gecko using the 250 drives but Jim has suggested using the 201 drives as he has found them to be very smooth. I see some users of the 540's have a vibration problem. What I would like to do is buy a box( and motors if I have to) that I can plug into my computer and plug in the control box, then the motors and have it work with as little fiddeling as possible. Plug and play so to speek!! So which drivers are better? Do the new ones, just out, beat the ones mentioned? Can I buy these all ready to plug in without having to build my own box? If so from whom? Need suggestions - advice. Thanks in advance.

They should both perform similarly. The G201's can handle larger motors. 80V and 7 amps vs the G540's 50V and 3.5amps.

It has the G203V, which is basically a G201 with additional features which prevent damage to the drive due to just about anything.

So basicly the 201/203 can handle nema 34's verses the nema 23's for the 540?

3 G203v's driving 960 0z/in er's run each @ 6.0amps with a 72V 20amp power supply with 120v I/p. Just take my word for it the 203v's are top shelf and can handle anything you throw @ them as long as it doesn't exceed 80v/7amps. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that believes/knows this also.

Many places carry Gecko drives, I purchased mine from Keling back in the day. However, to save some cost on shipping/duty and such being a fellow Canadian there was a chap on here selling a bunch, his user name is vintageracer, shoot him a PM to see if he has any left, he's also from Canada somewhere.

I will get in touch with vintageracer. I have looked at some of his adds.
These 203's seem to be very good but perhaps an overkill for my apps, yet it would seem that the table would be bullet proof if used. I only have nema 23"s on a older 4x4 techno table. The muddy waters are getting clearer!
