540 and DC spindle motor

I just ordered a 540 and I was wondering if anyone has connected a DC spindle motor in place of a VFD or if that is possible?

I guess I could use one of the outputs to run it through a speed control card if all else fails. It doesn't look like it will work with the VFD pins, so just curious if anyone has delved into that area yet.

I am having some real issues with my current setup. 203's. I doubt it is the drives. The axes run smooth and strong. I am able to adjust the spindle motor perfectly when the machine isn't moving. When it starts a cycle though, the spindle motor starts lurching.
I have tried different computers, control cabinets, power supplies, cables and even a spare new speed control card.

I am swapping out a motor and cable now and will check the results.

Any motor controller that works with a 0-10v analog input should be fine. Many of the treadmill controllers on surplus.com should work.

Thats what I use is a big treadmill motor.
This am after swapping out my X motor with an identical one, the spindle is not having these issues anymore.
Hmmm. I got the same readings in both motors as far as ohms and then when connected to Gecko's.
Not sure what it was but that seems to have cleared up.
I basically got the 540 just as a backup for any of my three machines should something like this go wrong.
Good to know that it should work.
