G540 fault

I just wanted to pass this along to anyone having issues with the fault condition on a new system.

Conditions at the time of the fault:
No motors connected.
Newly rebuit XP machine on a mini desktop with a deticated parallel port
Was able to find and set the EPP for the parallel port in the bios setup.
had limit switches and an e-stop switch and 36V power applied to the unit.
Newly loaded copy of Mach3
Settings for the charge pump all per the manual.
Charge pump on-off switch had no effect on fault.
Reading all the posts with no help....
Then I noticed someone wrote about a short lead to the e-stop.
disconnected the e-stop switch and wired it directly to -VDC. (which is bascially what the switch was doing).
Drive fault gone.
Motors up and working.
Mach3 working with the help of the xml config file for G540.

I'll eventually have to figure out what switch to use that doesn't cause this fault.

It's appear to be an e-stop problem.

Have you try just pushing your e-stop.
You can also try inverting your e-stop in config, input pin.

Don't forget to try your e-stop after that.

Sounds to me like your e-stop switch is open. Make sure that you are connected to the Normally Closed (NC) contacts of the e-stop switch.
