i boughta cnc machine that was supposed to be a working unit and now i am trying to re-assemble it and i am having an issue. i have a geckodrive g540 and a keling kl-600-48 power supply and the fault lite will not shut off. here is the wiring: ![]() ![]() i have tried several computers with no luck. should the lite go out only when the parallel cable is plugged in or as soon as it is powered up with no cables attached? i have tried powering up the unit before i start my computer with no luck as well. i went on the keling web site and the pictures they have of the kl-600-48 appear to be different than mine. there is only the one bank of six connectors except for the ac connectors on the opposite end beside the fan. also, how do i know what revision my unit is? any thoughts? guy |

| Guycrunch, The G540 will not come out of FAULT mode unless there is a charge pump (watchdog timer) signal present. The charge pump sends a 10kHz signal to the G540 on pin 16, and must be enabled for the indicator LED to come out of FAULT mode. To do this, you must: 1.) In Mach3 go to Ports and Pins, which is located in the Config menu. 2.) Select the Output Signals tab. 3.) Enable the Charge Pump feature and designate it to output to pin 16. Instead of doing this, you can unzip and copy the attached 540B XML file into the Mach3 directory. Choose the 540B profile when you start Mach3. The parallel cable must be plugged in and Mach3 needs to be running in order for the G540 to see a charge pump signal. Hope this helps, Jeff...

| Guy, 1: Make sure the 540B.xml file is located in C:\Mach3 2: Execute or start Mach3 with Mach3.exe 3: In the Session Profile Box choose 540B and then select ok. See attached .jpg Thats all there is to it. Jeff...

| i really appreciate your help. here's where i'm at. on the computer i have set up for the cnc machine which is an hp compaq dc5700 samll form factor desktop unit i still get the fault lite. i added mach 3 to my personal computer which is an asus tower and the fault lite is off. i have tried every different printer setting on the hp, it is set at epp+ecp, there is no epp by itself. i tried bi-directional, and also went back to epp+ecp but changed the irq and dma settings all with no luck. i am now deleting mach 3 from that computer and will try re-installing it. if that doesn't work and i can't figure out why the printer port won't work on that computer i may have to change computers (which is not easy because of the 3 hard drives in the tower). thank you. guy |

| Guy, The Gecko G540 requires a 100 percent EPP compatible LPT Port, if it is not 100 percent compatible plan on purchasing a add on card that is. Also a very common mistake is not having a straight through DB-25 cable. Check the cable pinout with a ohm meter the pins need to be 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, etc... It is possible that you may have purchased a null cable by mistake. Jeff...
