    G540 Output Help

I am a bit lost here.

I am trying to use my g540 to turn on and off my spindle (bosch router) through mach3.

    I have a 50v psu and a 115v relay with a 12vdc trigger.

How do i hook it up with the pin 5,6 outputs to trigger the relay coil?
do i need a 12vdc psu as well?
    Nick

The 540 has two relay outputs on pins 5 & 6. These are switched grounds so you hook one side of the relay coil to pin 5 OR 6 and the other to the 12v+ PSU. The 12v PSU ground line should be tied to the stepper motor PSU ground according to the Gecko Blurb!

Ok i am going to just try it and see if i understand.

So ive got 50vdc and Ground from my main psu to the gecko on pins 11-12 i think it is.

Im going to have to add a 12vdc psu right.
From here im going to run +12vdc to one side of coil and then -12vdc to pin 5or 6. Then hook -12vdc wire from psu to ?? ground on the 50vdc psu??(where the gecko is grounded)

or am i completly lost here?

    Sorry Nick

There's a wiring diagram in the back of the G540 manual and it covers adding relay control to pins 5 and 6.
If you follow it, you should be OK.
    Regards

I recently started carrying some 48V relays to make it easier on folks with G540s: http://soigeneris.com/cncparts2.aspx. Just hook one side of the coil to your +V supply and the other side to the G540 output.
