I am planning to get a G540 for a router under construction. I am looking at two power supplies form keling and The KL-5020 seems good but based on the current draw the voltage drops significantly. http://www.kelinginc.net/KL-5020.pdf I was also looking at the KL-5413. http://www.kelinginc.net/KL_5413.pdf Can I use any of these two power supplies safely based on the lower voltages as the current draw increases? I was also thinking of pairing the G540 with either of these two motors, wiring them in series of course. http://www.homeshopcnc.com/RSstepperMotors2.html HomeshopCNC Nema 34 600 oz/in RS34-600 or HomeshopCNC Nema 34 960 oz/in RS34-960 Jason |

| The rule of thumb for power supplies is 2/3 of the total amps. Since the G540 is rated at 3.5 amps per axis for a total of 14 amps you would at most need a 9.4 amp power supply of the appropriate voltage. If you are using 3 axes you can get by with a 7 amp supply. These motors are not optimal for use with the g540. Using the volts = 32 * SQRT(inductance) rule of thumb, the 600 oz/in motor wants 70V and the 960 oz/in motor wants 90v. You will actually get better performance from a smaller motor like the 318 or 387 oz/in motors from Keling. See this post by Mariss: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showpo...0&postcount=11 bob |

| The 400oz/in nema 34 stepper motors, wired in series, from Keling will work well with the G540. http://www.kelinginc.net/KL34H260-42-8A.pdf Timothy |

| I guess the 6mh is a bit higher than you wanted. How about some 180oz/in steppers from Portescap? http://www.portescap.com/product-144-23H118D.html Timothy |
