I'm sure it's been answered before, but I couldnt' find it. I know the G320/340 has 20A, 80VDC capacity, but I'm not sure how that relates to "Peak" and "constant" ratings on a motor. I have one set of motors that is 9A constant, 35A pulse, 100VDC max. The other motor is 11.3V, 15.8A constant and 55.1V, 90A peak. What happens with this scenario? Are the motors just limited on their speed/torque, or does the drive release the magic smoke? If gecko's are a no-go for me, what do you guys recommend? | Hi Matt, the Gecko's will only put out the voltage you put into them (80vmax) and up to a maximum of 20 amps continuous. So on your 100 volt motor they will run slower, which means slower rapids than at 100v. They will run all day at the 9amps, but your peak torque will be limited to whatever 20amps will give. Quite a few people are running a motor similar on their full sized mills with good results. I am running 112v motors on 100v with my copley analog drives and they won't go as fast as they could, but they are more than fast enough for me.

| The one nice thing about your first machine is that it lets you know how little you actually know. ![]() I am in the middle of finishing my third while converting my 4th. After #3 it starts to get easy and you can swear at them less and less. Keep us posted on your progress. P.S. If you can wait a bit, Gecko is coming out with the new G380 which is a much improved version of the G320/340 drives. They should be available in a month or so, as long as there are no problems with the prototypes when the come back. Pricing is supposed to be close to the current g320. Mike
