good day, I am just getting ready to install a G251 driver but before I do I wanted to check on the subject of grounding. The manual states that the heat sink is at the electrical ground of the driver but does not specify whether or not it is necessary to electrically isolate the heat sink from the heat sink and/or power supply case which will be at power line ground. So, is it required to electrically isolate the G251 heat sink from the chassis ground or does it not make any difference in this application? Thanks, Graham |

| The rule is "if it's metal, it must be grounded". The plate is grounded to the G251 terminal GND, so is your chassis and you will run run a GND wire from your power supply to the G251. Since there is no voltage potential between the plate to chassis, you don't have to insulate the plate from the chassis. The G251 to plate grounding is exactly the same as it has been on all our other drives since 1999. Mariss |
