Gecko 540 Mach 3 Keling Steppers on a Taig

Ok got everything setup tonight and having a issue. The steppers seemed to stutter when the taig is jogged.
it is semi smooth if mach 3 is set to 5lpi. Yet its is not smooth at all. This is the same with all 3 axis.

I have done all the Mach 3 optimizations for windows

I have removed the steppers from the taig and all axis turn smooth by hand

When steppers are jogged while removed from mill problem is the same so I ruled out gib binding.

Can anyone running this setup give a starting point for motor tuning maybe that will help get a reference where to start. Also I hooked this up to a xylotex stepper and it did the same so i doubt its a lot of bad steppers.

Setup
Taig Mill
Controller Gecko 540
PC Desktop Compac Presario Win XP Optimized for Mach 3
Steppers Keling 282oz KL23H276-30-8B
Power Supply Keling 48V

What are your Mach3 settings? Also, are you using the XML file from our website?

Marcus

Steppers Wired Bipolar Parallel ----- 3.3k ohm resistors used in steppers

motor tuning this was last setting where it had least stutter in motors same in all 3 axis

steps per 40000
velocity 5
acceleration 2
step pulse 2
dir pulse 1

This is on a rev 4 controller Gecko just replaced. Never had a chance to use other rev controller due to motor cycle accident so its not like it worked now it does not this is a new setup

Mach3 "ports and pins": Set step "active high".
Mach3 "motor tuning": Set step pulse width to "2" microseconds.
In BIOS: Set parallel port to "EPP".
