I have been searching the web for about two weeks trying to find a suitable stepper to drive my K-2 router at 100+ ipm I think I found one that will work? but I need some educated feedback. My router is a 14 X 25 X 5 with a .1 lead screw so I will need to turn it at 1000rpm and finding a stepper that can do this has been a challenge. This is what I located that I think will do the job http://www.probotix.com/specs/HT23-400-4_specs.jpg My question, 1) Will 165oz at 1000 rpm be suitable for a router cutting wax and model board? 2) is this stepper a good fit for Gecko drivers? if so what would be recommended a 540? 203v? let me know your thoughts. | Ideally you should work out the inertial load reflected back into the motor and see how near it is to the test conditions stated otherwise you might find there's no where near the torque at that revs you think there should be.... (36V, 3A/phase, 275gcm2 inertial load) Similarly you should work out the actual torque required to move the load/spin the screw/resist cutting forces. 1.65Nm would seem in the right ballpark tho... but I'd work it through (I'd also think about a longer lead on the screw) |
