Hi - The G540 manual states “Choose a motor that has a rated winding inductance of 2.5mH to 3mH if maximum power output (>100W mechanical) is a requirement”. I want to use the G540 on a larger bench top mill. What is the exact issue with using this motor which has a 4mh inductance rating. Does it mean the G540 can use these motors but not produce the rated 3.5 amps or the 425oz/in. If I can use these motors what current and torque could I expect and what current resistor do I use to get maximum output from this combination. I have these motors from www.kelinginc.net KL23H286-20-08B Operation bipolar Holding torque-Nm (oz/in) +/- 10% 3.5 (497) Rated voltage 3.0 Rated current per phase (amps DC) 3 Resistance (Ohms) +/- 10% 1.2 Induction (mH) +/- 20% typical 4 Best regards Ron |

| The higher the inductance, the lower your top speed will be. You use the motors rated current, and use the formula V = Square root(mH) x 32 for your voltage. With higher inductance, you want a higher voltage. Higher voltage gives you more torque at higher speed. Since the G540 is limited to 50V, the voltage will limit your speed, as, ideally, you'd want a 64V power supply with a 4mH motor.

| The motors you choose will run fine with the G540 I would use a 48V power supply. You will just loose a little top end performance. On most mill drills you would be cutting at less than 10 IPM. With a 2/1 ratio timing belt drive that would only be 200 RPM. Dan
