what amp rating are your steppers?
my 269`s are 2.8 amp steppers. so you would need 2.8K or lower resistors. My local rat shack only had 2.2K so I used those to get up and running. the resistors will be rated in wattage on the package.....

Its a fair assumption to not guess at this. You need to know the ratings on the steppers. Damage can happen.

Ok I think I found the AMP Ratings

UniPolar 2.7V 3A
BiPolar Series 3.86V 2.1A
BiPolar Parallel 1.93V 4.2A

Found Info at http://www.kelinginc.net/KL23H276-30-8B.pdf

I do not know how which setup uni bipolar series parallel to use

The which resistor to get

If you wire them in bi-polar parallel they are 4.2 amp

Since the G540 max output is 3.5 amps you would use 3.5K resistors to obtain maximum performance with the combination you have.

The G540 is a bi-polar drive you can not wire it for uni polar.

Gun- I have the same set-up as you:

Pin 6: Brown/Orange
pin 7: Black/White
pin 8:Blue/Yellow
pin 9: Red/Green

Pin 1 to 5 : 3.5K resistor (2,3,4 not used)

This set-up flies on the 540! Trust me

One more question I went to radio shack biought 2 packs of resistors. Both are 3.3k 5% Tolerance one set is 1/4 watt the other 1/2 watt. Which would be better to use.

See your first thread for the wattage.
It won't make a difference. All that the resistors due is set the current limit in the hardware. They are not in the motor circuit they are just controls so you don't have to worry about burning them out.

I would use a ohm meter to verify the resistance before using them.
It doesn't happen often but sometimes they get packed wrong and you would not want to over amp the motors.

Jason,

The half watt resistors are double the capacity, so use them even though it probably wont ever make a difference.

TOTALLYRC Mike,

Sorry. I did not mean to step on your toes.

I was posting a answer the same time as you did.
