| Gerry, I still don't understand your logic on this. Can you please explain to me what information I would gain by plugging the X and Y connectors into the Z drive and seeing that they don't work as well when plugged into the Z drive. When I unplug the connector from the Z drive and plug it into the Y drive all the Z circuit works fine from the connector at the drive all the way to the stepper. Maybe I'm missing something but the only thing left is the drive itself... Lee, the connector from the Z drive works fine on the X drive as does everything else in the Z circuit from the connector to the stepper motor. The only thing that fails to work is the drive itself... Thanks for the link, the one at the beginning of the Gecko section here has a step by step for testing the drives... Thanks John |

| Response to post 13 Big John, Your logic is correct, but as ger suggested, connecting an x/y motor to the z drive would prove your logic. If it doesn't, perhaps something else?? or the test itself removed the problem (e.g. moving/handling wires removed a short). You would then want to reconnect the z motor and drive as a triple check. | 123CNC, Thanks for the explanation for the triple check. Perhaps if the Z drive ran the X stepper but not the Z stepper and the Y drive ran the Z stepper and the Y stepper then I would be too confused to continue BTW, I did the wiggle wire test several times. I do have the Z drive removed from the heat sink/fan assembly and can triple verify it this evening. Thanks John |
