    Mine works!

Rev 1 G540 here and i'm a complete newbie with a completely fresh built machine. DIY power supply 45v 11a - 3No 282oz Nema 23's - should be 4.2a but they are restricted to 3.5a..... followed the instructions and ......... it works fine, first time no drama's.
Set Mach3 up in mm's and had to do some thinking setting the steps per as my ballscrews are 5/8" 5tpi but it works fine!
I would post the file but I ain't got power in the garage and its a major ball ache to do it just to retrieve a file. Next time i'm out there i'll try to remember

LOL LOL very amusing! Wot I means is, I have to un coil about 30m of extension cable from the house to the garage and drape it across about 5 neighbours gardens to do it and without them tripping on it in the dark and breaking their necks, sueing me for everything I own and then some!
    Hence MAJOR ball ache!

Mine works. It gets hot after a very short period of time, I neglected to add a current set resistor, but it works. Marcus and I exchanged alot of emails until he diagnosed my setup problems. I'm really happy with my G540 so far.
What sort of technical issues are you grappling with Fixxitt?

I cannot upload my XML to this site.

Dang- Did you ever install the set-resistors? Mine are in the mail and I refuse to run the motors and put that 4.2 amps through.

I did test them and they were scary fast on the Taig.

Smile Put the 4.2 through them

    Speed Custom,

Put the 4.2 through them, then you would truly be living up to the name Speed Custom.

It was my understanding that the g540 maxed out at 3.5amps. Thus even if you had a motor that could run at 5000amps, it would only get at maximum 3.5 amps from the g540.

God I hope so, as I have mine wired bi-polar parallel and in that config they can pull 4.2amps and I did not use any set resistors.

Yes. The G540 maxes out at 3.5A with or WITHOUT the resistor. The thing is though, without the resistor, or with a resistor greater than 3.5K, the Idle current limiting does not work. This may cause the motors to get hotter than they should. These 3.48K resistors are a good choice and will not go over or under:

    3.48KXBK-ND

They only come in a pack of five. With shipping it's about $2.50
