Gecko 320īs faulting

Hello

I have a 3 axis K2 machine with 24vdc motors, 250 line encoders and Gecko 320īs to a PMDX 122 board. The machine stops at random, and triggers the fault input of the pmdx and Mach3. Mostly the machine stops when i run it faster about 3000mm/min (5mm pitch screws and 2:1 reduction). I have changed the power supply with no result. All the cables are changed to shielded tp for the encoders etc. I donīt know why the geckos are faulting either the encoder signals are bad or the power supply, i just have this problem several times a day. Perhaps i need to put in line amplifiers on the encoders (usd) to boost the signals? Sometimes Mach3 show an estop but the geckos are still enabled, sometimes the same estop is displayed but the gecko drives are faulted too. When they are i have to home and zero the machine again. The enable outputs on the geckos are paralleled into the fault input, so i cannot tell wich gecko that trips the fault, would be nice to have them separated but i only have one fault input on the PMDX board. What is wrong then?

Pete

What is the power supply voltage and the motor's velocity constant (Kv or Ke)? I calculate you are running the motor at 1,200 RPM.

24 volt DC motors power supply also 24 Volt 20 amps primary switched (had 50 VA transformer before and was no good either... Kv Ke i have no idea.

G320 faulting.

If mach3 is faulting before the G320's then you have noise on the input line for the estop. If you have several inputs all ties to the estop then they also may be the cause of the problem with mach3 faulting. In Mach3 go to the diagnostic page and see if any of the LEDs that should be off blink while you run the machine.
Relative to the problem with the G320 faulting, if your encoder cables are more than 6ft long and you are using encoders such as the US Digital E2 series then you may very well need line drivers.

thanks

I have a pmdx 122 card so the input from the estop is separated from the fault inputs (but they combine on the card). Is it possible to see the indicators flashing if the disturbance is very short?

I have no line drivers but im thinking of getting some. The machine has a HSD spindle and a motor drive for it. The encoder cables are a bit longer than 6 feet, but they are TP and shielded high quality signal cable made by Lapp Cable (german cable maker)
