Hey guys, may machine is running like a dream but I have one concern about powering up the system.
I have four gecko 302's, cnc4pc breakout board, and a 1500 watt power supply rated at 72 volts for the motors (more like 68...), 350 watt computer power supply for the breakout board.
What is the proper way to bring each system online? Sometimes the geckos go into fault instantly which requires powering everything down and waiting till I can hear the caps discharge. Second try is always ok, all motors are powered and waiting.
Sometimes the entire machine takes a pretty huge surge when powering down too. Especially my y axis seems like it gets full current for a split second in either direction which requires a re-zero each time I power back up.
What should get power first? How should the system be powered down to avoid the surge? Should I use more than a single switch to power all the systems at the same time?
