    Step multiplier for stepper drives?

Any benefit of using one of the Gecko stepper drives with step multipliers running at full or half step? How does the performance compare to that of a G201/203V with Mach 3's kernel speed cranked up?

Currently only concerned about acceleration and top speed. Accuracy/resolution can be dealt with.

Is Mach3's 100Khz output not fast enough? That's the only reason to use a step multiplier. Not sure, but I think the performance would be similar. Some of Gecko's older step multipliers would sometimes lose a step on direction changes, but the newer ones don't have that problem.

    Thanks Ger.

    100kHz is plenty. I've got one setup with a 1" x 1.000 screw that's screaming at 2200IPM.

I was just curious as to whether fewer steps would equate to a smoother running or more reliable machine (spaced out TTL signal).
