I was taking my system apart to do some maintenance. When I was taking my Z-motor loose I heard it click. That surprised me because I always shut everything off. But I had failed to do so. Someone told me a long time ago that you should never create an open circuit while the system was on. When I put the system back together and powered up I noticed the Z drive would not work and the Gecko was not lit. The fuse was blown. I powered down and took the motor loose thinking it might be shorted. That- of course- violates the no-open-circuit rule but I didn't know what else to do. When I powered up the fuse blew again. So I'm pretty sure I need a new Gecko but I would like to check it first. Can someone supply me with some meter values? It's a G201. I looked on their site but there are no troubleshooting guides. I wrote them as well. Thanks |

| Follow up to my earlier post: My testing shows the following values measured against ground: Power socket= 0 ohms Phase A = 12 Ohms Phase B = 12 Ohms Phase C = 0 Ohms Phase D = 0 Ohms Disable = 200 Ohms Dir = infinity Step = infinity Common = infinity Current set = 12 Ohms (resistor removed) Current set = 0 Ohms (resistor removed) |

| Usually unplugging a motor from a powered drive will kill it. Call Gecko and send it back for repair.

I contacted them by email shortly before I posted here. Haven't heard back yet. It never occurred to me that such a component could be repaired. I think of solid state electronics much like light bulbs. But I read a lot of the posts in this forum and one could easily get the idea that Mariss repairs them for free. Mine is certainly over a year old. Does he g'tee them for life? |

In the interest of helping others, I did send it to Gecko. They determined that is blown and not repairable and that it probably happened as a result of having the system turned on while taken loose from the motor. |
