| i am having trouble getting my motors to work. i have cnc4pc c10 bob gecko 203s. i am doing something wrong as the motors do not lock up when turned on. but when i push the jog keys the motors make a hum that is louder than when they would when locking up. on x i have step in mach pin 2 on bob. direction on pin 3. step on gecko term 9 direction terminal 8 com [ground] term 10 the green light is on. term 1 is ps grd. term 2 is ps hort [80 volt] disable is not used. on the bob i have 5 volt to the disable. in mach x is enabeled. any ideas on what i can try? this is not my first time wirieng or configurieng a cnc, but i do not know what else to look at. thanks greg ps i am trying to save time & just describe 1 axis. all are doing the same thing. |

| Things to look at are what are the amp ratings on your motors and do you have the correct resistor installed there on the gecko's current set res? Also tuning your motors in Mach 3 may help. You step pins in Mach 3 should also read active high I think. The direction side swapping active high and low will just change the direction of the motors. Some thing to try anyway.

| Do you have the cnc4pc c10 bob's jumper set to ground for the common terminals. the 203's use ground to the common from the bob's common.... unlike the other gecko drives that need +5v to common. just wondering, Jack

| If the motors don't lock up, it's a wiring issue, not Mach3.

| morris [at gecko] told me to send in all my 203s [4] to be checked out. i sent them off on jan 3rd got them back on the 10th. 1 had a blown fuse [my fault i wired the comm to 5 volt] the other 3 were ok. i reinstalled them same problem. a call back to morris, he came to say my resisitors were too small! i got some that he told me to get for 33 k [orange, orange, orange] came back & installed & behold it works. i want to give a big thanks to gecko [morris in paticular & mariss also] as they are a great bunch to do bussness with. thanks to everyone who tried to help me with this problem [another great bunch of people] greg |
