I can't seem to tell from the manual what step input I need for the G203V. Do I send full steps to the drive or some micro step? I know that it morphs from micro stepping to full stepping but I don't have a clue as to what I need to send it from EMC2... Thanks John |

| You always calculate the steps per inch (number of steps you send per inch of movement) as X10 in the formula. Lets say your stepper motor is mounted and has a 3:1 belt reduction. We know most steppers are 200 stpes per rev. TO spin the motor on REV you need 2000 steps from the computer (200 * 10 microsteps). Then you have to calculate the external gearing (belt reduction, leadscrew pitch (or rack and pinion GAIN) to get the actual total in the software. So to answer: You always use the X10 number with any Gecko stepper drive. The fact the drive itself switches the step currents ad higher speeds does not change what you put in....that would be a nightmare to setup (:-) Tom Caudle www.CandCNC.com |

| Thanks for the fast response Mariss, I'll save the phone call to you when I get into real trouble LOL... Ok, the 203v is a 10 micro step drive like the 201 and 202... You might tell the web person to add that info to the description similar to the 201 and 202. John |
