When to switch on motor voltage to G201

Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question. I have a campbell breakout board. I have installed a switch to turn on the 70v power supply, and a 2nd switch to turn on 110v to the board. Do I need a 3rd switch to turn on the 70v dc to the gecko 201 so that the 201 does not get a power spike from the condenser? I am using mach3. Thanks in advance for any advice,
Harvey Price

I am not sure why you need so many switches - turning on the mains should power up all your system. I have a Bob Campbell breakout board and Geckos and have a single power switch, all works fine.

Harvey,
I use a contactor to switch dc voltage on and off.
The charge pump circuit from Bob Campells BOB controls a SSR which in turn energizes the contactor. Output 4 on the BOB will energize when you press the reset button in mach 3.
Your setup is ok the way it is but you should let the BOB control when DC voltage is applied to the 201's

Thanks to all for the advice. Where would I get a "contactor" and what size should I get? Is that a 12 v solenoid switch?
Thanks again for taking the time to answer.

I don't recall the exact items I used but the initial switching is use is a reed relay like something on this page: http://www.mouser.com/catalog/631/1504.pdf

The SSR I used is like figure A on this page: http://www.mouser.com/catalog/631/1506.pdf

The reed relay I had laying around and the SSR I picked up on eBay.

Cheers,
Walt
