| i havent had to deal with any aspect of repair on my geckos, but after spending about an hour on the phone with one of thier application engineers, he informed me that they make most of thier money on the 201's cause they get blown up and replaced... its this aspect that made my decision to go with the 203v's.. thier basically bullet proof.. and while i try and be carefull, i do have the occasional oops... the extra few $$ i spent is good insurance.

| Geez,.. I've got to be careful what I say. The "most of thier money on the 201's cause they get blown up and replaced" remark was meant as dry humor that evidently missed its mark. We ship over 200 drives a day, we get 1 drive a day back for evaluation. That's less than a 0.5% return rate. Mariss |

| perhaps i misunderstood then, or maby i didnt really say what i ment to say, it was just my impression that the 203v's were so much safer due to the built in saftey features that by comparison, the 201's were more suseptable to end user caused failures. I'm sincerly sorry if my comment about the 201's was taken poorly, i think that the gecko products are awesome.. and i'm not sure if it was you or someone else that i spoke with on the phone, but the information that i was given about the 203's was dead on. i never dreamed of being able to get 100ipm on my mill, much less the 200+ i'm actually able to get.. and all on 2 old converted computer powersupplies in series at 24V... i do still stand behind my comment that the extra $ i spent was good insurance for my oops factor.. if nothing else it would save me the frustration if i did screw something up and hurt something.. again, i'm sorry about that, i didnt mean to knock you or the product..

| JProject5K, Please don't worry about it; nothing you wrote can be even remotely construed as objectionable. If you are bombing out at 270 IPM you may be running up against Mach3's maximum step pulse frequency limit. Check with Mach3, I understand Art has been able to increase the freq limit to 100kHz recently. Mariss |
