I'm using G320s to control a servo motor on a CNC project. When I power up the system the fault light is on. The encoder voltage is 5V. If I turn the motor shaft the A and B channels go to 5V, 0.2V. I think I read somewhere that the fault line needs to be tied to something, but I can't find what. Should it be tied to the 5V that feeds the encoder ? Thanks. |

| That's one way. The 320's need a "reset" pulse of at least 3 to 5 secs that consists of the internal +5 (referenced to motor ground) being applied to the reset pin. Leaving the + ENC signal on that pin will perform the same function but makes the Fault signal unusable. In the event of a fault the drive will stop (read: lose postion) and then fire back up after it has gone through reset. If you want the drive to signal the control system it has faulted the simple jumper idea does not work. On our interface cards we designed for servos to the G320 and G340 drives we put a 5 second reset pulse to the Error/Reset pin and then "OR'ED" the pins together on multiple drives to provide a multiaxis system shutdown on any fault. We also included a differential to single ended converter for the encoder signals. At this point our interface cards only work with our Power Controllers but I just got protos in for a new card that will let them work with just about any breakout card. tomCAUDLE www.CandCNC.com BOB's Digital THCs DXFTool Software Complete Electronic Packages Stepper & Servo Systems Hand Controllers |
