excerpts from http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/geckodrive/ From: "Mariss Freimanis" <mariss92705@y...> Date: Mon Apr 5, 2004 3:58 pm Subject: 1000 geckos ![]() " Hi, Just for fun I posted in the files section "1000 geckos.jpeg" The big pile of drives are 1,000 G201s that have passed first test. The pile is 11 drives wide, 9 drives deep and 10 drives high. The 10 drives on top make it an even 1,000 drives. Some stats: Weight: 100kg (220 lbs, which is what I weigh) Number of SMT parts placed: 150,000 Number of thru-hole parts: 20,000 Number of solder joints: Approximately 576,000 Machine running time: 21 hrs, 25 min. Total mechanical power if all drives were lit: 250kW or 335HP The green pile to the right is 60 finished SMT panels of 12 G201s per panel. Those would build 720 more drives. The yellow container holds 120 untested drives, the cardboard box holds 160 more. You could say there are actually 2,000 geckos in this picture. | By popular demand, here is where all dead geckos go. Every last one from the last 4 1/2 years is here including a dead original prototype. The tupperware thing has about 80 lbs of dead drives, making it about 320 to 350 killed geckos. It also stinks which is why we normally keep a lid on it. Mariss |

| Here's a photo pertaining to a recent "giveaway" contest from the "geckodrive" forum. The idea was to distinguish a single 320 from the multitude of 201's. Although the contest is concluded, I thought this warranted posting.....cute little ones, aren't they? Art Fenerty's comment: " Marris: Great Idea, I wonder how I can hide a Mach2 in a room full of Mach1's..... Art www.artofcnc.ca" Last edited by Bloy2004; 04-08-2004 at 10:30 AM. |
