| The ERO types come in both 5v differential and low level sine wave output, you may have to hook it up and see what the output is with a meter. Alternatively, I have found Heidenhain very good when contacting them for information, at least the Canadian office is. Al.

| Most of the ERO TTL 5v versions are 140mA~160mA, there is not many encoders that run 50mA. Al.

| Wouldn't it be cheaper just to use a separate 5v supply for the encoders? Heidenhain & US digital are each end of the cost spectrum. Al.

| AFAIK you just need to supply the encoders with the 5v supply and connect the 5v common and Gecko common and hook up the encoder outputs. do not connect the Gecko +5v with the aux supply +5v. This is how it is normally done, but you may want to confirm this with Gecko. Al.
