Q: Breakout board for 320s?

What's the breakout board that you suggest for use with the 320?

I know of two that I'm looking at. cnc4pc's and pmdx's.

However I'm not electronics incline enough to know which one is better.

Are there other breakout boards that I'm missing?

Thanks.

Take a look at CandCNC's boards. They have some very nice boards and their support is great.

I recommend that you go with the CNC4PC. It has everything that you will need for the 320's. It is simple to hook up. You will need a 5 Volt DC wall-wart plug in power supply, as it uses external power. This however, is an asset and not a liability.

For the price, it is hard to beat.

I'll eat my words CNC4PC are opto isolated and I've just seen their new board as well. It looks like the one to go for - unless anyone knows better...

Is there a reason to go with this board vs the others listed? Would the multifunction board at cnc4pc be better?

I'm really in the dark on the electronics aspect. I expect to post a good number of questions once I get to the point of mounting and wiring up the motors/encoders.

Thanks for the response.

the multi function board would be better if you want to control the motor speed via the program using a vfd (variable frequency drive) and need relays to control other things

All depends really..

This link is a comparison of all the CNC4PC breakout board features.

http://www.cnc4pc.com/BB.htm

I have a full schematic in pdf format on the Gecko forum for the wiring of drivers, encoders, and servos for the 320 and 340 units. Do a search for Gecko 320. I would give you a link to it, but cannot while doing this entry.

I could not find it, so I will upload it again here.

Use the schematic for wiring of the drives, encoders, servos. Ignore the other wiring as you will not be using the same power supply, breakout board, the fan connections, and some of the other options.

This should answer almost all the questions you may have.

I found it earlier.

I clicked on your name and viewed posts by you.

But thanks for the repost.

According to your comparison link post. IT looks like the c10 isn't optoisolated. Which someone above pointed out is important?
