    Help-2 steppers/one gecko drive

Can anyone help me with this. I am building a mill/router that will have two steppers running the X axis (2 screws slaved to each other). My question is can I hook the 2 steppers into the 1 gecko drive. That would make life much easier for me. But, I seem to recall reading that each motor has to have its own driver. I am not an electronics guy, but I don't understand why that would not work. The steepers are the same and the driver will be receiving the same step/dir pulses, What is the problem? Has anyone tried it?

    any advice would be appreciated

Yes, you put the motor phases in series with each other, they'll step together, and have just as much torque. This works just fine with "modern" low resistance motors, so long as total DC voltage drop is low compared to the drive voltage (the drives are current limited, not voltage limited). Inductance and back EMF are now twice as big, so top speed will be cut in half.
