| Hi again and thanks to all that have helped so far. I am setting up my campbell BOB to my Geckos 210 and still confused about the Geckos header pins to setup the com. terminal. my BOB is set to send 5 volts to the Geckos via the com terminal. Looking at the Geckos they come set to common ground (||||). If i am sending 5vdc to the Geckos from my BOB to the com terminal I feel the header pins need to be set to com +5 (==) on the Geckos can anybody confirm or explain my view on these pin assignments. Thanks Again Gads |

| Hey Gads, The way I make it out is to set for 5 volt com, then if you look at the diagram on the cover of the diodes at pin 8+9 turn them around(in your head) and put your signal ground to pin 10. If you were using the printer port direct to the driver you leave it the way it is and put 5 volts to pin 10. Hope that helps |

| I went to the Bob Campbell site but the pdfs wouldn't download without errors for some reason, maybe I need to upgrade my acrobat. Did you get the board without the documents? When in doubt go to the manufacturer. I keep my breakout simple with the least amount of connectors, I cut of the end off a printer cable and wire direct to the drivers. Another helpful thing would be to download Mariss's stepper basics at his Geckodrive site at the support tab. |

| I had a similar question - here's a thread that may be of help to you, maybe not - it's worth a look if you haven't seen it: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18747 Scott

| Just to add a little note to all this about +5 volt supplies, I was told to keep the +5 volt supply to the drivers just below the +5 volt supply in the computer. So if the computer supply is putting out +4.99 you want your add on supply to be +4.98 or so. I had an erratic running machine and couldn't figure out why, so I check the output of my add on supply and it was at +5.1 or so and the computer supply was at +4.98 or so, I can't remember the exact differences but I decided to connect to the computer supply and the machine ran great after that. |
