202 and stepper motor

Hi, I have two 640oz/in and one 270oz/in motors I just hooked them up over the weekend and one of the 640oz/in motors was making a loud clicking noise and ran real rough. They had no load on them. I was adjusting the trim pots on my 202's and setting speed , direction and etc in mach3. I got it to run fairly smooth but still made that noise when it started and stopped. Is their something wrong with my motor or is their more adjustments I can make.
