Basically your correct. If your PC can output steps fast enough to use the G320, then you don't need the G340. This can be somewhat dependant on your encoder count.
What is the difference between the Gecko 320 vs 340??
The only thing I could find was the "step pulse multiplier". Does this essentially magnify or multiply the steps coming from the PC software and send that on to the motor, thereby speeding things up?
I do not have a high or even medium speed requirement, so if the above is true, then I should probably stick to the 320??
This is what I'm thinking, but let me know if I'm wrong please.

You need to know how many steps/second you need, first. Then, if you're using mach3, it can output 25,35, or 45,000 steps per second. You'll need at least a 2 Ghz PC to use the faster speeds.

Since my slowest pc i have is a PIV 2.26Ghz i guess i can go with the 320īs and take the full advantage of using mach3 at 45,000 steps...correct?Originally Posted by ger21

All PC's run Mach3 differently. You really need to make sure it runs OK at 45Khz. Art usually recommends running at 25Khz, unless you really need to run faster.
