    Gecko G540 with 6 wire steppers

    Does anyone have or know the optimum wiring for 6 wire steppers to a G540 board. Currently I have the two center ports wired to power supply positive and the 4 outer ports wired to the gecko. Except for motor heating at idle this seems to work. In looking at 4 wire configurations it appears all voltage is going through the G540 instead of just the grounds. Could my wiring configuration be bypassing the current set resistor mounted at the G540 end of my cables?

    The hookup that you are using is not correct for hooking up a 6-wire motor to a G540. The G540 is designed to handle 4-wire motors (or 4 of the 6 wires of a 6-wire motor). You should not be connecting the center taps to a positive voltage source. Rather, you will want to hook up "half coils" or "full coils" to the G540, and tape off the extra wire from each winding.
